Social and Economic Assessment - New Gourna Village, Egypt
Working with UNESCO, World Monuments Fund contracted Community Consortium to assess and document current conditions in New Gourna Village. Specifically, Community Consortium undertook a socio-economic survey in order to form more robust plans for the future of the village and its inhabitants.
Egyptian architect Hassan Fathy who inspired architects and planners worldwide designed new Gourna Village. In Fathy’s seminal work, Architecture for the Poor, he set forth the foundations of participatory design and planning—a method Community Consortium endeavors to incorporate in all of its projects.
